Save the Song of the Syrian Serin

The Syrian Serin, once a familiar songbird in Lebanon, is now on the brink. Field studies show its population has declined alarmingly — with fewer than 5,000 individuals left worldwide.

The threats are real and growing:

  • Irresponsible hunting, as it is often mistaken for other small birds.

  • Overgrazing, destroying its nesting grounds.

  • Invasive species, such as the Common Myna and Hooded Crow.

  • Pesticides and random tree trimming, devastating its food sources.
